Obituary

Beloved husband of 56 years of Karole Rosenfeld Green.  Dear father of Thomas Ronald (Ingrid Ruth Hall) Green Jr., Linda Irene Green (Matthias Daniel) Renner, and Katherine Anne Green (Matthew Martin M.D.) Bruckel.  Loving grandfather of Sara Hailey and Izabella Faye Green, Katrin Karole, Grace Renate, and Joseph Hubert Renner, Miles Robert, Chloe Eve, Bryce Thomas, and Tobias Keats Weber.  Dear step-grandfather of Ava Morgan and Leo Murphy Bruckel.  Beloved son of the late Mildred and Donald Green.  Loving nephew of the late Barbara and Max Lubin.  Beloved brother-in-law of Robert Rosenfeld and Donald (Lynn) Rosenfeld.  Our dear uncle, cousin and friend.

Tom was born in St. Louis and attended Wellston High School. The first member of his family to attend college, he was awarded a freshman basketball scholarship to attend the University of Illinois. After receiving a degree in accounting from the University of Illinois and his law degree, Order of the Coif, from Washington University, he became Assistant County Counselor for St. Louis County and later, Assistant Attorney General of Missouri, while maintaining a private law practice, Law Offices of Thomas R. Green. He was active in politics throughout his life. In the sixties, he founded National Real Estate Management Company, National States Insurance Company and Royal Banks of Missouri. Tom served on many local and national boards of Jewish organizations including as chair of the committee to build the Holocaust Museum of St. Louis, as the museum’s first chairman and as president of the St. Louis Jewish Federation. He founded the Lubin-Green Foundation, a supporting foundation of the Jewish Federation. Crediting his education for his success, he was also very involved with Washington University, serving on the Law School’s National Council, and establishing the Karole and Thomas R. Green Professorship of Law. He will be remembered as a great business man, philanthropist and much loved family patriarch.

Funeral service Thursday, March 30, 11:00 AM at Temple Israel, #1 Rabbi Alvan D. Rubin Drive (Ladue and Spoede Roads).  No visitation prior to service.  Interment private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Lubin-Green Foundation, a supporting foundation of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, 12 Millstone Campus Drive, St. Louis, MO, 63146 or to the Washington University School of Law, Attn: Monica Lewis, Campus Box 1248, 7425 Forsyth Blvd., Clayton, MO, 63105.

Family Visitation/Reception:  The family will receive friends and relatives at Westwood Country Club, 11801 Conway Road, St. Louis, MO, 63131 on Thursday, March 30 (4:00 pm to 7:00 pm).
